Tour Overview

Our Sillustani Tour from Puno will take us to one of Peru’s coolest pre-Incan sites, and the whole morning will feel relaxed and easy. We’ll drive through rolling highlands, pass small villages, and reach the beautiful Lake Umayo. Right from the start, the views and fresh air will make the day feel calm and enjoyable.

When we get to Sillustani, the tall stone chullpas will greet us, standing proudly above the lake. Walking around, we’ll see how ancient communities built these towers to honor their ancestors. Our guide will tell stories about the people, legends, and culture behind the site. Every corner feels historic, full of life, and perfect for snapping photos.

Next, we’ll explore the cliffs above Lake Umayo and take in the wide-open views of the water and hills. The cool breeze and soft sunlight make the scenery even more beautiful. After wandering among the tombs and imagining life back then, we’ll drive back to Puno, passing more villages and scenic spots. By the time we reach our hotels, we’ll have had a short, easy, and unforgettable dive into Peru’s pre-Incan past.

Sillustani Half-day tour

We will start the Sillustani Tour from Puno early in the morning, leaving our hotels and boarding comfortable transport. The drive heads north, gradually leaving the city behind. Rolling hills, highland plains, and grazing llamas and alpacas will fill our view. The tour guide will introduce the history and culture of the Altiplano and pre-Inca civilizations.

After about 45 minutes, we will arrive at the Sillustani Archaeological Complex, located on a scenic peninsula above Lake Umayo. The guide will explain Sillustani’s role as a pre-Inca burial ground and the significance of the chullpas. We will learn about the Colla civilization and how the Incas adopted and refined funerary traditions. The combination of history, architecture, and storytelling will make the site come alive.
